Lockett will decide between five finalist schools in early August, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, and Texas. He's taken official visits to each of his five finalist schools, with the final one being his trip to Texas last weekend.
LSU got the first official visit from Lockett on May 31. The Tigers were considered one of the frontrunners in this recruitment earlier this offseason.
Texas A&M (June 7) and Florida State (June 14) got the next two official visits from Lockett. Both schools remain in the mix for him, but have some work to do to close the gap on the presumed leaders, Texas and Alabama.
Lockett then took a midweek official visit to Tuscaloosa on June 17. Alabama has emerged as a serious contender in the last few months with Lockett, especially after a successful official visit to see the Tide and new head coach Kalen DeBoer last week.
The fifth and final official visit Lockett took this summer was to see Austin again last weekend. He's seen Austin a few times since the start of the 2024 offseason, but the official visit was still a great experience for Lockett and his family over the weekend.
Texas getting the final official visit with Lockett could give them a leg up a couple of months out from his commitment date. The Longhorns are the presumed favorite in this recruitment, with Alabama making things interesting when he officially visited Tuscloosa early this summer.
Lockett is one of the three elite wide receiver recruits head coach Steve Sarkisian, wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, and the Longhorns are aiming to get in the 2025 class this summer. The other two five-star wide receiver recruits the Longhorns are prioritizing in the 2025 class are Duncanville's (TX) Dakorien Moore and Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin's Jaime Ffrench.
Texas has been putting the pressure on Lockett to make it known how much they want him in the boat in the 2025 class in the last few months. Jackson has built a great relationship with Lockett since last fall, and multiple Texas commits have been in consistent communication with him this offseason.
The 6-foot-2 and 175-pound wideout from Sachse, TX, ranks as the No. 17 recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite, No. 3 wide receiver, and No. 6 from Texas.
