Danny Sprinkle, Utah State head coach

Among the rising stars in the college hoops coaching ranks at the mid-major level is first-year Utah State Aggies head coach Danny Sprinkle. The 2023-24 Mountain West Coach of the Year has done great things in his first year at the helm in Logan, UT, winning 26 games and claiming the MWC regular season title.

This was Utah State's first Mountain West regular season title since 2019. Sprinkle and the Aggies will also be shooting for their first MWC Tournament crown since 2019 as the No. 1 seed in the conference tourney this week.

Getting Utah State over the 25-win mark during the regular season and having them ranked in the AP Top 25 entering the postseason is a huge feat for Sprinkle.

But this isn't the first time that he's found success coaching at the Division 1 level at a mid-major program. Before he was hired at Utah State last offseason, Sprinkle led the Montana State Bobcats to over 80 wins over four seasons with the program.

Sprinkle also led Montana State to back-to-back Big Sky Tournament titles and two straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

If Sprinkle shows interest in taking the Oklahoma State job entering the offseason, it would be wise for the Pokes to reach out immediately. Sprinkle is likely to be one of the more highly sought after coaching candidates from the mid-major level for the higher-profile job openings in the major conferences.
