Chris Del Conte became the athletic director for the University of Texas in 2017, taking over a Longhorns athletic program that had been floundering since the football team lost to Alabama in the 2009 National Championship.

While Del Conte wasn't able to immediately turn the Longhorns' athletic program around, the past four years have led to a bounty of success for Texas and its athletic director.

Since Del Conte became the AD of Texas, the Longhorns have earned:

  • 11 National Titles
  • 61 Conference Titles
  • 3 Directors' Cup Titles

The third Directors' Cup title was cemented when the Texas volleyball and rowing teams secured National Championship titles for the 2023-24 season.

The Longhorns won 15 conference titles this season, Texas' last year as a part of the Big 12.

Both men's and women's sports have thrived under Del Conte's tenure at Texas, and fans are praying that the trend continues as the Horns enter the SEC.

Last season, football was able to topple the ever-dominant Alabama Crimson Tide in the Horns' only SEC matchup for the year.

While volleyball took down Big Ten programs to win their national title, the Longhorns breezed past the Tennessee Volunteers and Texas A&M Aggies on their way to the Final Four.

The rowing team defeated Stanford, in the Cardinal's last stand as a part of the Pac-12, for the national title.

Del Conte was named the 2024 Athletic Director of the Year by the Sports Business Journal.
