Expected decision date*: Aug. 8

OTF's Gerry Hamilton reported on Aug. 5 that four-star Bellville (TX) defensive lineman DJ Sanders is expected to announce on Aug. 8. He will decide between Texas, Texas A&M, and the Michigan Wolverines entering his reported Thursday afternoon/evening decision date.

Sanders hadn't made his decision timeline public on the recruiting trail late this summer. But he was expected to announce before the start of his senior season.

This recruitment has been one of the quieter ones among the key in-state blue-chip targets on the trail for the Longhorns. Sanders hasn't discussed much publicly regarding which schools he's leaning toward or when he's ready to announce since summer official visits started a couple of months ago.

It's still difficult to get a clean read on where Sanders is leaning a few days out from his expected commitment date. Texas does reportedly have some quiet confidence late this summer after he had a successful late-June official visit to Austin.

But the same could be said for Texas A&M and Michigan regarding their chances to win this recruitment for Sanders. The difference here could be the fact that Sanders wants to stay closer to home, giving Texas and A&M the edge over Michigan regarding the proximity to home advantage.

If Sanders does announce for Texas on Aug. 8, he would be the second defensive line commitment in the Longhorns 2025 class. The first defensive line commit the Longhorns landed for 2025 was earlier this summer when it flipped Folsom (CA) four-star Josiah Sharma from the Oregon Ducks in late July.
