Explosive 4-Star 2026 WR Chris Stewart commits to Texas
Four-star 2026 Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek wide receiver Chris Stewart has committed to Texas football, he announced on his X account on June 25.
Texas football lands another 2026 commitment from 4-Star WR Chris Stewart
Stewart committed to Texas over offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, Michigan Wolverines, Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC Trojans, among many others. In total, Stewart had well over 15 offers from Power Four schools before committing to Texas on Tuesday evening.
This commitment from Stewart in the 2026 class comes just over a week after the Longhorns landed the elite five-star Fort Lauderdale (FL) American Heritage quarterback pledge Dia Bell. The No. 2 quarterback recruit in the nation in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite is clearly already having an impact on the recruiting trail, getting another top skill guys to join him with the Longhorns.
Wide receivers coach Chris Jackson and the Longhorns offered Stewart back in early December 2023. He has visited Texas once unofficially since he was offered by Texas, which was for the Elite Camp on June 1.
"I literally just talked to Coach Chris. He stayed in touch with me throughout the whole recruiting process even when all the other schools were talking to me and he showed the most love."
Stewart told Horns247 that he has good relationships and consistent communication with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and Coach Jackson.
The combination of the interest from the coaches, the experience in the city of Austin, and getting to catch passes from Bell in Sarkisian's offense were big factors in getting Stewart to commit to Texas early in the recruiting process this summer. He also mentioned that playing in the SEC is a big deal for him in college.
Stewart brings top-notch speed and explosiveness to the offense
The 6-foot and 175-pound wide receiver from the Houston area brings track-level straight line speed at the skill positions for the Texas offense. He's a sub 10.7-second 100-meter dash guy who can blaze past opposing defenders in the open field.
The acceleration and explosiveness are equally as impressive, if not even better, for Stewart than his top-end speed.
This type of speed and acceleration fits a trend that Sarkisian has been recruiting from the high school level and the transfer portal to get some blazing fast players in the receiving corps. Stewart has that wirey frame and great speed in space that Sarkisian wants in his offense in the future entering the SEC this year.
Despite Texas losing a 2026 commitment from four-star Aledo (TX) running back Raycine Guillory last week, the Longhorns are in a good spot early in this cycle. Stewart gives Texas a speedy blue-chip wide receiver recruit to add another weapon for Bell to throw to in this offense in the 2026 class.
