Former Texas Longhorns competing in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games

It is once again an Olympic year and athletes from all around the world are heading to Paris to compete in the 2024 Summer Games.

As usual, Texas Longhorns will be predominately featured on the rosters of multiple countries’ Olympic teams – especially Team USA.

The Paris Olympics are set to kick off on July 26 with the opening ceremony.

Among the first Longhorns confirmed to be on Team USA for the Olympic Games are basketball stars Ariel Atkins and Kevin Durant.

As former Texas stars are named to Olympic rosters around the world, this story will update with more and more Longhorns to pay attention to this summer.

Kevin Durant – Team USA – Men’s basketball

Kevin Durant played just one season in Austin but put together one of the most spectacular years of college basketball in history.

Durant won the Naismith and Wooden Awards and led the Horns to an appearance in the Round of 32 before heading to the NBA.

Ariel Atkins – Team USA – Women’s basketball

Ariel Atkins played for Texas from 2015 to 2018 and appeared in three Sweet Sixteens and one Elite Eight during her time with the Horns.

While Atkins was on the Horns’ roster, Texas boasted a 77.1 percent win rate with a 108-32 overall record.

Scottie Scheffler – Team USA – Men's golf

Scottie Scheffler was the first American athlete to earn a spot on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He is currently the No. 1 golfer in the world and most recently won yet another green jacket at the Master's golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

Scheffler played at Texas from 2014 to 2018. He won three Big 12 titles while with the Horns and was named the Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year in 2015.
