Texas baseball's late push for the Big 12 regular season title continues this weekend in a three-game series on the road against the UCF Knights in Orlando, FL. For the first and only time, Texas and UCF will meet on the baseball diamond as conference foes in the Big 12 before head coach David Pierce's squad leaves for the SEC next year.

UCF (30-15, 11-12 Big 12) is one of the hotter teams in the Big 12. The Knights are riding a four-game winning streak and have won eight of its last 10, including a three-game series sweep of the Houston Cougars last weekend.

This will be a tough contest for the Longhorns as UCF is one of the better teams at home in the Big 12 this season. UCF is 20-7 at home in 2024.

Texas (30-19, 15-9 Big 12) is still technically within striking distance of the first-place Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 standings. Pierce and the Longhorns currently sit in a three-way tie for second place in the Big 12 with the Oklahoma State Cowboys and West Virginia Mountaineers.

The starter rotation remains the same for the Longhorns this weekend against UCF. Sophomore right-hander Max Grubbs gets the call on the mound for Friday's contest against UCF after he got a no-decision in an eventual win over Oklahoma State in his last start on May 3.

Lebarron Johnson Jr. is the Game 3 starter for Texas against UCF. He's struggled for Pierce and the Longhorns in the regular season's second half, posting an ERA over 9.00 in his last five starts.
