After suffering a convincing double-digit defeat on the road at the hands of the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence last weekend, Texas basketball (17-10, 6-8 Big 12) returns to action on Feb. 27 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders (19-8, 8-6 Big 12).

Head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns are entering a very hostile environment in Lubbock in the final Big 12 regular season matchup against Texas Tech. Head coach Grant McCasland and the Red Raiders have been nearly unbeatable at home in Lubbock this season.

Texas Tech's only loss on home court this season came against the Cincinnati Bearcats in a three-point defeat on Feb. 3.

This is a big game for the Longhorns to stay off the bubble for the NCAA Tournament entering Selection Sunday in a few weeks.

If any road game could be classified as a "must-win" contest for Terry and the Longhorns, this is it. Texas needs a quality win over a Quad 1 opponent to shore up its resume for the NCAA Tournament with just a handful of games remaining before the end of the regular season.

It would be an added bonus for Terry and the Longhorns to get the job done in Lubbock while avenging their loss in the Big 12 opener to Texas Tech at the Moody Center.

Final score prediction: Texas Tech-75, Texas-68
