There was no slowing down the former Texas basketball star Kevin Durant as he went off in Team USA's Summer Olympics opener in Paris on July 28 against Team Serbia. The all-time leading scorer for Team USA was blazing hot shooting from the field, registering a game-high in points, field goal percentage, and three-point field goal percentage.

Team USA off to blazing start thanks to former Texas basketball star Kevin Durant

In the first half, Durant went off for 21 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting from the field and 5-of-5 from beyond the arc. And he did all that while coming off the bench for Team USA.

That was Durant's best and most efficient offensive first half of basketball arguably of his entire career since he entered the NBA over 15 years ago. Durant had never registered at least 20 points while shooting perfect from the field and beyond the arc in his NBA or olympic basketball career before today.

Durant was joined by fellow NBA veteran superstar and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James among the 20-point scorers for Team USA that helped lead the stars and stripes to a commanding 110-84 victory over Serbia. Durant and James outplayed fellow NBA superstar for Serbia, Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic, who had a respectable performance of his own with 20 points and eight assists on better than 50 percent shooting from the field.

In the second half of the game, Durant added two more points from the free-throw line to finish up with a game-high 23. He shot 8-of-9 from the field, 5-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Durant also added two defensive rebounds and had one turnover.

The Phoenix Suns star forward continued his Olympic-streak of 20-point games, which now sits at five. He's scored at least 23 points in each of his last five games for Team USA, dating back to the end of the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Durant and Team USA are now 1-0 in pool play in Group C in the Paris Summer Olympics. Next up they'll face South Sudan in pool play for a chance to potentially clinch Group C on July 31.
