After a thrilling win in the Austin Super Regional on May 26, No. 1 Texas softball and head coach Mike White are on to their second Women's College World Series in the last three years. Texas rallied to win the final two games of the Austin Super Regional on May 25 and 26 to punch their ticket to Oklahoma City, OK, and the Women's College World Series.

Texas softball and Mike White advance to the WCWS for first time since 2022

White and the Longhorns had to fight out two clutch one-run wins to knock off the stingy in-state rival and No. 16 Texas A&M Aggies to get through super regionals. Texas hung on to defeat Texas A&M by a narrow score of 6-5 on a Teagan Kavan strikeout to officially punch their ticket to OKC and the WCWS.

Texas is making its seventh appearance in program history in the Women's College World Series. It's also Texas's second Women's College World Series appearance under White, and the second since 2022. All seven WCWS appearances for the Longhorns have come since 1998.

Not only was this the first time that the Longhorns participated in the super regionals as a one-seed (per Texas Sports website), but this postseason also extended White's streak of consecutive super regional appearances to five years.

After the Longhorns eliminated Texas A&M by winning the Austin Super Regional this holiday weekend, it opens up the Women's College World Series against a familiar foe this season. Texas (52-8, 23-4 Big 12) faces the No. 8 Stanford Cardinal (48-15, 17-7 Pac-12) in its first game in Bracket 1 of the WCWS on May 30 at 6 p.m. CT.

Texas and Stanford split two contests during the regular season. The Longhorns downed the Cardinal the first time these two teams met during the regular season, by a score of 9-2 at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational on Feb. 16.

Stanford evened the season series with the Longhorns with a narrow 4-3 win in extra innings at the Lone Star State Invitational at McCombs Field in Austin on Feb. 24.

The winner of Texas-Stanford on May 30 faces the winner of the five-seed Oklahoma State Cowgirls and four-seed Florida Gators in Bracket 1.
