On3's Joe Tipton reported on April 23 that Texas basketball transfer target and former Oregon State Beavers sophomore guard Jordan Pope will announce on April 24. Pope will reportedly decide between Texas and the Texas A&M Aggies entering his Wednesday decision date.

Pope visited both programs in Texas in the last 10 days. He took a trip to Austin to see head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns on April 16. Pope also visited College Station to see Texas A&M on April 18.

The No. 16 ranked transfer point guard in the 247Sports Composite is one of Terry and staff's top portal priorities at this point of the offseason.

Texas has already landed three portal commitments during the spring transfer window. In the span of a few hours on April 14, Texas hauled in transfer commitments from former Indiana State Sycamores redshirt junior forward Jayson Kent, Indiana State redshirt junior guard Julian Larry, and Arkansas Razorbacks redshirt junior guard Tramon Mark.

If Texas does land Pope's commitment on his decision day (April 24), he would be the fourth transfer pickup for the Longhorns of the offseason.

Pope is a former three-star recruit from Napa (CA) Prolific Prep. He committed to Oregon State over other D1 offers from Montana, Nevada, and New Mexico, among a couple of other schools.

The 6-foot-2 and 165-pound guard from Oakley, CA, played two seasons at Oregon State. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Pope was one of the top scoring guards in the Pac-12 last season. He ranked fifth in the Pac-12, averaging nearly 18 points per game on 45.1 percent shooting from the field, 37.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 87.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Starting all but one of the 64 games he played since the 2022-23 season, Pope led Oregon State in points per game and assists in both years.
