Defensive line recruiting is the primary positional focus for Texas football in the 2025 class early this fall on the trail. Texas has sent out multiple defensive line offers in the past month, especially to underrated 2025 defensive tackle prospects from the state of Georgia.

Texas football focusing on top flip targets in the 2025 class this fall

Since the beginning of August, the Longhorns have offered four defensive line prospects from Georgia in the 2025 class, including the most recent offer earlier this week to Savannah (GA) Calvary Day four-star Walter Mathis Jr.

Texas currently has one defensive line recruit in the 2025 class committed, former Oregon Ducks four-star pledge and Folsom (CA) product Josiah Sharma. Defensive line coach Kenny Baker and the Longhorns flipped Sharma's commitment from Oregon in late July after the pool party/BBQ bash in Austin.

Most of Texas's remaining targets on the recruiting trail at defensive tackle in the 2025 class would have to be flipped from other P4 schools. Texas is looking to take at least two or three more defensive linemen in the 2025 class before signing day in early December, so I would expect at least one or two DLs for this cycle to be flipped within the next few months.

The same could be said for other position groups the Longhorns' coaching staff is still looking to add to in the 2025 class. Texas is still looking at adding another wide receiver, defensive back, and a linebacker for this cycle before signing day.

Here's a prediction of every flip the Longhorns are able to pull off in the 2025 class before the start of the Early Signing Period in December.

Kevin Wynn, DL (Florida State commit)

It is an apparent trend that Baker and the Longhorns' coaching staff is trying to build a pipeline with defensive line recruiting in Georgia in this cycle. Texas has not only offered multiple defensive linemen in the 2025 class from Georgia in the last four or five weeks, but it also remains in communication with multiple flip targets along the DL this fall on the trail.

One of the defensive tackle flip targets the Longhorns are still communicating with in the 2025 class this fall is Greensboro (GA) Greene County four-star and Florida State Seminoles commit Kevin Wynn. The 6-foot-2 and 325-pound Wynn has remained in consistent communication with Baker and the Longhorns since he committed to Florida State over Texas and the Georgia Bulldogs in late June.

Wynn has noted in the last couple of weeks, since Florida State is struggling to start the season after losses in the ACC to Georgia Tech and Boston College, that he's open to communicating with other schools. Georgia and Texas are the two schools he's most interested in outside of Florida State early this fall on the trail.

OTF's Gerry Hamilton reported (paid content) this week that an unofficial gameday visit this fall is very possible for Wynn to see the Longhorns at DKR this season.
