A new era for SEC football begins this season with the additions of Texas football and the Oklahoma Sooners to the fold for the 2024 campaign. This fall not only sees a big change to the SEC landscape on the gridiron, but it also sees the College Football Playoff field expand to a dozen teams for the first time.

How will SEC football standings unfold with Texas and Oklahoma in the new 16-team conference in 2024?

Texas and Oklahoma will be faced with more difficult slates in conference play than they have in a long time in college football's best conference in the SEC in 2024.

It will be interesting to see how many teams from the SEC can make the expanded 12-team Playoff field this year. It is expected that the SEC and the Big Ten will have most of the teams making it into the College Football Playoff this year, with four out of the top six teams in the preseason AP Poll and Coaches Poll beign from this conference.

The SEC has over twice as many College Football Playoff National Championships and the most four-team CFP appearances than any other P4 conference (going back to 2014). This year could see the SEC dominate the college football landscape, once again, especially with the conference now including expected Playoff contenders like Texas and Oklahoma.

Here's a projection of the power rankings and final conference standings for the SEC for the 2024 season.
