12. Florida

The Florida Gators have one of the most difficult schedules I've ever seen in power conference college football this upcoming season. Head coach Billy Napier needs to lift Florida up a notch, or else he might be out of a job in Gainesville by next offseason.

Florida has a talented roster on both sides of the ball, including a returning senior starting quarterback in Graham Mertz, and their most important player on defense, junior linebacker Shemar James. Napier and the Gators must start the season on the right foot with a win over the No. 19 Miami Hurricanes next weekend.

11. Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats have been one of the most underrated teams in the SEC over the past decade under longtime head coach Mark Stoops. In his 11th season at Kentucky, Stoops is looking to get the Wildcats to their ninth straight bowl game appearance.

There won't be many easy matchups for the Wildcats this fall, as they boast the fourth-toughest strength of schedule in college football for the 2024 season.

10. Auburn

Head coach Hugh Freeze had a bunch of highs and lows in his first season returning to the SEC to coach the Auburn Tigers last year in 2023. It looks like Auburn's roster is upgraded with some help from the transfer portal and a second full year in Freeze's system for many of the returning starters on both sides of the ball.

This needs to be a big year for Freeze to show he has the Auburn football program trending in the right direction in the new-look SEC.

9. Oklahoma

Under third-year head coach Brent Venables, Oklahoma is looking to establish itself among the top-half tier of teams in the SEC. The Sooners have a few chances in the early portion of the SEC slate to build momentum for the second half, including a home game against the Tennessee Volunteers and the neutral site matchup in Red River against the Longhorns on Oct. 12.

First-year starting quarterback Jackson Arnold is under a lot of pressure to take over the Oklahoma offense while playing behind an offensive line that lost all five starters this offseason. The Oklahoma defense should be excellent, laden with returning starters at every level, including senior linebacker Danny Stutsman.
