Predicting Texas's next 2025 commit after CB Caleb Chester
Riley Pettijohn, LB
The clear-cut top linebacker priority in-state for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this summer is the elite high-four-star McKinney (TX) product Riley Pettijohn. Texas is battling the Ohio State Buckeyes, USC, and Texas A&M amid Pettijohn's summer official visits for his commitment.
Pettijohn has already taken official visits to see Ohio State (May 31) and USC (June 7) in the last two weekends. Ohio State made a really big impression on Pettijohn when he on campus in Columbus a couple of weekends ago.
But this recruitment has looked to be an in-state battle between Texas and Texas A&M for a while now. And Texas has been the presumed leader in the race to land a commitment from Pettijohn at least since last fall.
A big official visit lies ahead this weekend for Pettijohn to see Texas. It is Pettijohn's second time he's scheduled to be on campus in the last three months. His last trip to Austin was for the spring game at DKR on April 20.
In total, this will make it three visits for Pettijohn to be in Austin since the start of the 2024 offseason.
Texas needs a solid weekend with Pettijohn with his Texas A&M official visit coming up next weekend. College Station is the final official visit Pettijohn is scheduled to take this summer. Assuming he doesn't take his recruitment into the fall during his senior season, Texas can start to move in on a decision from Pettijohn with a successful official visit this weekend.
