Predicting Texas's next 2025 commit after DL Josiah Sharma

Texas can continue the recruiting momentum into the month of August after securing a huge commitment flip from Oregon yesterday, with 4-Star DL Josiah Sharma.

The momentum is strong on the recruiting trail late this summer for Texas football in the 2025 class. Texas pulled off a massive flip for its 2025 class on July 25 at the pool party/BBQ bash, with four-star Folsom (CA) defensive lineman Josiah Sharma flipping his commitment from the Oregon Ducks to UT.

Texas football lands its critical first 2025 DL commit with Josiah Sharma in late July

Sharma had been trending to the Longhorns when he originally announced his commitment this summer, in late June. But Oregon made a big last-minute push to win Sharma's recruitment just hours before his announcement on June 28.

Getting Sharma in the boat in the 2025 class should be viewed as one of the biggest wins of this recruiting cycle for head coach Steve Sarkisian, DL coach Kenny Baker, and the Longhorns. Not only was Sharma one of the top out-of-state blue-chip priorities in the 2025 class for the Longhorns this summer, but he also fills a critical position of need in the trenches for UT in the SEC.

More action could be around the corner on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns in the 2025 and 2026 classes, following the conclusion of the Texas bash on Thursday. That was the final big recruiting event of the summer before preseason camp begins next week.

Here's a prediction of the next 2025 recruit to commit to the Longhorns after Sharma flipped his pledge from Oregon on July 25.

Nathan Tilmon, S*

Texas is among the top three schools involved in the recruitment for three-star Arlington (TX) Mansfield Timberview safety Nathan Tilmon late this summer. 247Sports reports that the TCU Horned Frogs and Utah Utes have been pushing harder than the Longhorns in the race to land a commitment from Tilmon in the last few weeks.

A decision is expected to come from Tilmon at any point now. Had Tilmon announced a month ago, I would've said that Texas was the pretty clear favorite to win this recruitment.

But the fact that both Utah and TCU have invested more in the pursuit of Tilmon on the recruiting trail throughout late June and the entire month of July than the Longhorns does confirm the reporting that they are behind now.

Texas letting off the gas in this recruitment a bit is why I put an asterisk next to Tilmon's name on this list predicting UT's next 2025 commitment after Sharma this week.
