Predicting Texas's next 2025 commit after EDGE Smith Orogbo
Nathan Tilmon, S
Another important in-state defensive back target for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this summer is former three-star SMU Mustangs commit and Arlington (TX) Mansfield Timberview product Nathan Tilmon. The speedy and rangy 6-foot-1 and 185-pound safety from the DFW Metroplex has been trending to Texas since the Longhorns and Blake Gideon offered him back in early June.
A couple of weeks after he received the offer from Texas, Tilmon took a midweek official visit to Austin along with two other defensive back targets in the 2025 class (from June 18-20). For the last few weeks, it always felt like Texas had the best chance to get Tilmon committed among the three defensive backs who officially visited midweek from June 18-20.
Texas is battling the TCU Horned Frogs and Utah Utes in the race to land Tilmon's commitment this summer. TCU and Utah reportedly aren't making things easy for the Longhorns in this recruitment following his successful official visit to Austin a couple of weeks ago.
It sounds like a decision is expected from Tilmon before the start of his senior season. And unless something major changes in this recruitment in the next five or so weeks before that time in late August or early September, Texas fans should feel optimistic about their chances to get Tilmon committed before the season begins.
