Decision date: TBA

The top remaining priority among five-star in-state recruits in the 2025 class that the Longhorns are pushing hard for who hasn't announced a decision date yet is San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry III.

The No. 1 athlete recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking does appear to be getting closer to making a decision late this summer on the trail.

Terry's recruitment has boiled down to three top schools late this summer on the recruiting trail, including the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oregon Ducks, and Texas.

Oregon has made a big push in this recruitment since the spring. But it sounds like going that far from home to the west coast could be a factor that keeps Terry from ending up at Oregon.

And while Nebraska has also made Terry a top priority for them in the 2025 class this summer, Lincoln might also be a bit too far from home for the elite athlete recruit from southern Texas.

That leaves the Longhorns as the likely top contender in the race to land Terry's commitment, assuming he decides late this summer or early in the fall.

But that's the real question in this recruitment is when Terry will be ready to announce publicly. It was recently assumed that he would make his commitment before the start of his senior season. Terry now seems like he will decide at some point early or in the middle of the fall (likely by the end of October). It could also still happen as early as in the next few weeks.
