Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian landed their 10th commitment in the 2025 recruiting class on May 29, hauling in four-star Shreveport (LA) Calvary Baptist running back James Simon. Texas is gaining momentum on the recruiting trail before summer official visits, landing its third commitment in the 2025 class in the last few days.

Texas football reaches double-digit commits in the 2025 class with 4-Star RB James Simon

Sarkisian and staff landed Simon over his other top four schools, including the Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Simon is Texas's second running back to commit to the 2025 class, along with Tyler (TX) Chapel Hill four-star Rickey Stewart.

It's big for RB coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns to be able to essentially close the book on running back recruiting for the 2025 class at this point of the offseason. Texas can now focus on prioritizing other key position groups in the 2025 class entering summer official visits with the running backs set for this cycle.

Landing Simon brings Texas up to the No. 13 ranked 2025 class nationally in the 247Sports Composite. Texas is well within striking distance of getting a fourth-straight top-five ranked recruiting class in the nation for the 2025 cycle with the course they're on right now entering summer official visits.

Here's a prediction of the 2025 prospect who will be the next to commit to the Longhorns after Simon on May 29.

John Mills, IOL

Offensive line recruiting has kicked into high gear for offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns in recent weeks. Over the weekend, Texas landed commitments from two brothers in the 2025 class, Cedar Hill (TX) interior offensive linemen Jordan and Devin Coleman.

The Coleman brothers join three-star Port Neches-Groves (TX) interior offensive lineman Jackson Christian among the three OLs currently committed to the Longhorns in the 2025 class entering summer visits.

Another top priority for Flood and the Longhorns in the trenches in the 2025 class who is officially visiting Texas this summer is three-star San Francisco (CA) St. Ignatius College Prep interior offensive lineman John Mills. The 6-foot-6 and 320-pound big human from Northern California is one of the top out-of-state targets along the offensive line for Flood this cycle.

Sarkisian and staff are using their west coast connections well in this recruitment. Mills has regular communications with Flood and has already visited Texas unofficially in 2024. His first return trip to Austin since the first big Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 20 is scheduled for late June for an official visit.

Texas gets the final official visit among the four schools he's scheduled to see over the next month. And with Mills planning to announce his decision in late June or possibly July, Texas is in a good spot here.
