The next confirmed upcoming decision date to watch for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this summer is the highly touted four-star Spring (TX) Dekaney tight end Nick Townsend. Texas is favored over the USC Trojans, Alabama, and Texas A&M in the race to land Townsend's commitment entering his July 15 decision date.

Townsend will decide along with his teammate and four-star wide receiver target Tanook Hines during an announcement ceremony at Dekaney High School on Monday afternoon. Townsend has been trending positively for Texas for the last few weeks, since he had a successful June official visit to Austin.

And while Hines had a good experience during his surprise early-June official visit to Texas, the Longhorns aren't expected to be the pick for the blue-chip wide receiver recruit. Hines is trending to likely commit to either USC or the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on July 15.

If Jeff Banks and the Longhorns can close the deal with Townsend and get him in the boat in the class of 2025 on Monday, that would be a massive win on the recruiting trail for this summer. Texas needs to take two tight ends in the 2025 cycle, and getting both Georgia four-star Emaree Winston and Townsend would be a fantastic duo.

The thought of a potential trio of talented players like freshman Jordan Washington, Townsend, and Winston paints the picture of a very bright future in the tight end room for Banks and the Longhorns for many years down the road in the SEC.
