The highest-rated big man target Terry and the Longhorns are prioritizing in the 2025 class this summer is the elite five-star Gilbert (AZ) Perry power forward Koa Peat. The No. 5 rated recruit nationally in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking has remained a key focus for Terry and staff going back all the way to last offseason.

Peat officially visited Texas last fall, taking a multi-day trip to Austin for a weekend in late September. He's also officially visited the North Carolina Tar Heels (Nov. 11, 2023), Michigan Wolverines (Sep. 2, 2023), and Houston (June 6, 2024) since last offseason.

"It stood out that all the players there liked each other, that is cool to see. Coach (Rodney) Terry has been recruiting me since the eighth or ninth grade. They see me in that Dillon Mitchell role, how they played him last year. He brought the ball up and let him play freely. They want me to come there and be the guy."

He liked the experience during his official visit to Texas last fall and continues to stay in regular contact with Terry and staff this summer.

The 6-foot-8 and 235-pound big man from Arizona has a busy summer ahead as a member of the 18u USA National Team. He'll get back to taking visits once he's done competing with the 18U national team later this summer. The Arizona State Sun Devils, Arizona Wildcats, Baylor Bears, and Duke are the schools potentially in line to get official visits from Peat later this year.

Texas is pushing to get Peat back to campus for another visit before a likely decision coming before the Early Signing Period in mid-November.
