Predicting Texas's next commitment after LB Elijah Barnes
Kade Phillips, S
A top in-state defensive back priority for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this spring, Missouri City (TX) Fort Bend Hightower four-star Kade Phillips has visited Texas multiple times in the last few months unofficially.
Phillips was most recently on campus at Texas for Longhorn City Limits last weekend. He made the trip to Austin on April 6 with his family to get more in-person time speaking with the Texas coaches and to see the Longhorns in the first scrimmage of spring ball on Saturday.
Safeties coach Blake Gideon and the Longhorns have made it clear that Phillips is a priority for them in the 2025 class.
"Coach Sark wants me here. Not a lot of people got to be here today, it’s an invite-only. So he just made it known that he wants me here. Even from Junior Day with us not being able to sit down with him, he just wanted to make a point that he really wants me here. Just thankful he’s making me a priority."
Texas has made a big push in this recruitment for Phillips since he made the trip unofficially for the first big Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 20. He had a good experience during the Junior Day trip a few months ago.
But it sounds like the visits keep getting better and better each time Phillips makes it to campus. He had maybe the best experience of any of his multiple trips to Texas since last offseason for the scrimmage and Longhorn City Limits on April 6.
Phillips' next return trip to Texas will be an official visit in late June. He's also officially visiting the Baylor Bears (April 26), Texas A&M Aggies (June 7), and LSU Tigers (June 14) in the next few months.
