Predicting Texas's next commitment after WR Chris Stewart

We are just a couple of days out from the decision date for the highly touted four-star Sacramento (CA) Folsom defensive lineman Josiah Sharma on June 28. Sharma will announce his decision live on the 247Sports YouTube channel on June 28 at 2 p.m. CT.

Sharma will decide between the Oregon Ducks, Washington Huskies, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Texas among his top four schools on Friday afternoon.

Alabama was considered to be the favorite in the race to land a commitment from Sharma entering his summer official visits. He was once committed to Washington before Kalen DeBoer left to take the Alabama head coaching job early this offseason. DeBoer and staff have the longest standing relationships with Sharma among the top four schools.

But Texas has made a big late push in this recruitment to tighten things up with Alabama coming out of summer official visits. On Texas Football's CJ Vogel reported on June 25 (premium content) that Texas has "favorable" returns coming out of this recruitment in the last few days since the conclusion of Sharma's official visit to Alabama last weekend.

Texas was even mentioned by Vogel and OTF as the "team to beat" for Sharma entering his June 28 decision date.

Getting Sharma in this class would be undeniably huge for the Longhorns and Kenny Baker on the recruiting trail to beef up the defensive line and avoid him going to another SEC school in Alabama.

He's one of the top four defensive line priorities for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this summer, along with Bellville (TX) four-star DJ Sanders, Port Charlotte (FL) four-star Myron Charles, and four-star Texas commit/Melbourne (FL) Eau Gallie product Brandon Brown.
