Will linebacker

Starter: David Gbenda (RS-SR)

Backup: Ty'Anthony Smith (FR)

The proven leader of the linebacker corps for the Longhorns this fall is sixth-year returning senior David Gbenda.

Mike linebacker

Starter: Anthony Hill Jr. (SO)

Backup: Liona Lefau (SO)

Sophomore Anthony Hill Jr. is one of the brightest stars for Texas's defense this season. He was tremendous as a hybrid linebacker/edge rusher for the Longhorns last fall, registering over five sacks during his true freshman campaign.

Hill will move over to the middle at linebacker this fall after the departure of two-time All-Big 12 First-Team linebacker Jaylan Ford. The sky really is the limit for the potential All-SEC First-Team linebacker Hill this fall.

Sam linebacker

Starter: Trey Moore (RS-JR)

Backup: Morice Blackwell Jr. (SR)

In most base packages where PK has three linebackers on the field for Texas's defensive front, Moore will be the go-to guy as a proficient pass rusher. Blackwell, meanwhile, brings more experience and proven ability dropping back into pass coverage at the sam spot at linebacker.
