Place kicker

Starter: Bert Auburn (RS-JR)

Backup: Will Stone (JR)

Redshirt junior Bert Auburn returns for his third season as Texas's starting place kicker. He has been pinpoint with his field goal accuracy on his kicks in the last two seasons, hitting at over 80 percent in both years since 2022.

Kickoff specialist

Starter: Will Stone (JR)

Backup: Bert Auburn (RS-JR)

Junior Will Stone retains the kickoff duties after holding down that spot for the special teams kickoff unit since 2022.

Punter

Starter: Michael Kern (FR)

Backup: Ian Ratliff (SO)

The biggest remaining position battle on special teams for the Longhorns is to win the starting punting duties job this fall. Freshman Michael Kern continues to battle sophomore Ian Ratliff for the starting job entering Week 1 against Colorado State next Saturday.

Punt return

Starter: Silas Bolden (SR)

Backup: Johntay Cook II (SO)

Bolden and Cook are both solid returners. Bolden has held the edge with his playmaker ability and field vision in the return game for Banks and the Longhorns this fall camp.

Kick return

Starter: Matthew Golden (JR) AND Silas Bolden (SR)

Backup: Isaiah Bond (JR)

Golden and Bolden are both studs in the return game and will share the kickoff return duties entering the opener next weekend.
