No. 3 Texas football had complete control of the game in the first half against the defending National Champions and No. 10 ranked Michigan Wolverines in this top-10 showdown at the Big House on Sep. 7.

Social media has Quinn Ewers and Texas football trending with the Longhorns up big after the first half vs. Michigan

Behind a nearly spotless performance from redshirt junior star quarterback Quinn Ewers, Texas handled Michigan and first-year head coach Sherrone Moore to the tune of a 24-3 lead in the first half. This is Michigan's biggest first-half deficit in a home game since the 2020 season against the top-25 ranked Wisconsin Badgers.

In the first half alone, Ewers threw for over 200 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, no turnovers, and a completion percentage of nearly 70 percent. Ewers put together a Heisman-caliber first half, which helped the Longhorns set the tone from the very start of this game against Michigan's defense.

Texas's defense and ground game also showed dominance for the Longhorns in the first half. Surprisingly, Michigan looked overwhelmed in the trenches on both sides of the ball against the Longhorns.

It's also noteworthy that Texas outgained Michigan by a margin of nearly 200 total yards in the first half. Texas also won the turnover battle by a margin of 2-0 in the first half, including an interception by senior safety Andrew Mukuba and a fumble recovery by super senior defensvie back Jahdae Barron.

This was a huge statement that the Longhorns proved in the first half to challenge Michigan's impressive 23-game home winning streak.

Here's a look at the reactions on social media after going up by three touchdowns in the first half at the Big House for the Longhorns against Michigan in Week 2.

Former Texas running backs Bijan Robinson and Keilan Robinson are loving what they see from the Longhorns on the field in the first half.

Ewers has been trending on social media since the second quarter of this game.

If Texas can continue to keep its foot on the gas in this game, it would be the second straight year where the Longhorns racked up a victory over a top-10-ranked non-conference foe on the road. Ewers and the Longhorns topped the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide by double digits in Week 2 in Tuscaloosa last fall.
