Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported on April 23 that Texas basketball and the UConn Huskies are "finalizing" a home-and-home series that would take place in 2024 and 2025.

Texas basketball and Rodney Terry to host UConn in Austin next season

The front end of the home-and-home series between the Longhorns and Huskies would begin in Austin at the Moody Center this upcoming season in 2024-25. UConn would then host the back end game in this home-and-home series in Storrs during the 2025-26 season.

Here's more information on the home-and-home series between Texas and UConn that is reportedly being finalized as of the writing of this article early this offseason.

"UConn, Texas finalizing home-and-home series

UConn and Texas are finalizing a home-and-home series that will begin next season in Austin, multiple sources told College Hoops Today.

There is no timetable on an official announcement.

There will be a return game at UConn during the 2025-26 season.

Official dates and times are also TBD."

This is obviously a marquee matchup that head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns would get to host the defending back-to-back National Champions on their home court at the Moody Center next season. Terry and the Longhorns are looking to build on an up-and-down 2023-24 campaign, where they made it to the Round of 32 before being ousted by the two-seed Tennessee Volunteers and head coach Rick Barnes.

Texas and UConn met as recently as last season, in the final of the Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 20. No. 5 UConn topped No. 15 Texas by a score of 81-71 in the meeting between these two teams last season.

Terry's squad will be looking to prove a point on the national stage during his second full year as Texas's head coach when they host UConn during non-conference play in 2024-25.

The last time these two teams met in Austin was during the 2015-16 regular season. UConn topped Texas at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin on Dec. 29, 2015 by a score of 71-66.

Texas is 3-7 all-time against UConn.
