Texas baseball flips 2025 P Jack Paris from Texas A&M
Per a report Kirk Bohls of the Austin American Statesman on June 28, Texas baseball and new head coach Jim Schlossnagle have flipped the commitment of 2025 Houston (TX) Kinkaid pitcher/first baseman Jack Paris from the Texas A&M Aggies. Paris had been committed to Texas A&M since the summer of 2021.
Former Texas A&M P/1B commit Jack Paris flips to Texas baseball
Paris joins fellow former Texas A&M commitment flip and right-handed pitcher Sam Cozart as the two pledges in Schloss's 2025 class with the Longhorns. Cozart flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to Texas on June 27.
It sounds like more action is on the way for Schloss and the Longhorns on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class in the coming days and weeks this summer.
Paris is a 6-foot-3 and 200-pound Houston, TX, native. The right-handed pitcher was clocked in at a Perfect Game baseball event in July 2023 with an 89 MPH fastball. And according to his Perfect Game profile, Paris's velocity on his fastball has improved by 13 MPH since July 2020.
The commitment from Paris brings Schloss and the Longhorns to 18 committed recruits in the 2025 class. Texas's 2025 recruiting class ranks third in the nation according to the Perfect Game college class rankings.
Schloss and staff will continue to add key pieces to the 2025 class via high school recruiting this offseason. Texas has already landed a dozen commitments from pitchers to bolster the rotation and the bullpen next season, which was a major point of emphasis for Schloss to fix before the 2025 season.
Texas is also recruiting the transfer portal, where Schloss and staff have landed a commitment this week from former Penn grad transfer pitcher Eli Trop earlier this week.
Schloss is quickly pulling together a solid recruiting class from the high school ranks for 2025. And this portal class has some real potential, especially given the quality of some names available on the transfer market this summer.
