Texas basketball and head coach Rodney Terry reeled in their fourth road win in the Big 12 on the season with a convincing double-digit win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Feb. 27.

Behind a game-high 21 points from senior big man Dylan Disu, the Longhorns toppled the Red Raiders in the final Big 12 regular season matchup between these two teams by a score of 81-69. Disu gave the Longhorns some clutch baskets in the second half to fend off a late run from Texas Tech to try and make this game interesting in the final five minutes.

Texas moves to 18-10 (7-8 Big 12) with a big resume-boosting win by beating Texas Tech by double digits on the road early this week.

How Texas basketball beat Texas Tech in a rowdy atmosphere in Lubbock

Here's an analytical breakdown of Texas's gritty win by a dozen points over Texas Tech on Feb. 27 at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock.

Four Factors

True shooting percentage

Texas-58.5%

Texas Tech-49.0%

Texas outshooting Texas Tech by a margin of nearly 15 percentage points was a big reason why the Longhorns jumped out to an insurmountable 23-point lead at halftime.

Turnover percentage

Texas-14.8%

Texas Tech-11.3%

This game was pretty messy and chippy for both teams. Texas was able to overcome turning the ball over three more times than Texas Tech by having just one fewer point off of turnovers than the Red Raiders. Texas Tech couldn't capitalize on Texas turnovers as much as they needed to.

Offensive rebounding percentage

Texas-39.4%

Texas Tech-24.4%

Winning the battle on the offensive glass has been a major key to the Longhorns' success all season. Texas is now 10-2 this season when it wins the battle on the offensive glass.

FTA Rate

Texas-.536

Texas Tech-.441

Both teams got to the charity stripe a bunch. But Texas nailing 80 percent of their 30 free-throw attempts was another factor that helped them seal the double-digit victory late in the second half.

A combined 11 points from the line in the second half came from Disu, senior guard Max Abmas, and sophomore guard Chendall Weaver for the Longhorns.

Style Metrics

Assist percentage: Texas-50.0%, Texas Tech-38.1%

Assist/Turnover Ratio: Texas-1.1, Texas Tech-0.9

Despite Texas turning the ball over three more times than Texas Tech, the Longhorns had a better assist rate and assist-to-turnover ratio.

3PA Rate

Texas-39.3%

Texas Tech-37.3%

Texas shot more three-pointers than they usually have in the last few weeks in Big 12 play tonight against Texas Tech. It didn't make much of a difference, though, as the Longhorns continued to struggle from deep (shooting 23 percent from three).

Pace

Texas-65 possessions

Texas Tech-69 possessions

This game started being played at a faster pace than it was down the stretch. Up-tempo pace favored the Longhorns out of the gates. But slowing it down allowed the Longhorns to burn more clock late in the second half to seal the victory.
