Small Forward: Tre Johnson, Freshman

Highlighted by consensus five-star Tre Johnson, Coach Terry and co. expect three immediate impact freshmen to arrive on campus this summer. There is no world in which Johnson does not make his way into the starting lineup this winter.

During the recruiting process, Johnson was classified as a shooting guard. However, his 6-foot-6 lanky frame will allow him to play interchangeably on the wing. The Dallas native is a complete three-level scorer deemed by many as the best scorer in the 2024 class.

In the 2024 McDonald's All-American game, Johnson finished with 17 points (5-7 from three), four rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

Johnson is the third-highest rated Texas basketball recruit in the modern era, and may be the best pure scorer the Forty has seen since Jordan Hamilton. The freshman is already being considered as one of the top picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. Let's hope Coach Terry lets his free-flowing offensive game thrive in Austin.
