The NCAA Transfer Portal has played a vital role in the shaping of the roster for the Texas basketball program in the last few years. Second-year Texas head coach Rodney Terry has utilized the portal well to rebuild his roster amid the coaching turnover in the last few years.

Where are recent Texas basketball transfers now in 2024?

Since the Longhorns had three different head coaches in the last four years, roster attrition was inevitable in this day and age of NIL and the transfer portal. Dating back to the 2021 offseason, the Longhorns have lost 16 players to the transfer portal.

Six of those 16 portal departures came this spring for Terry and staff. Texas has refocused the strategy of roster building this offseason to get more size and capable scorers to run Terry's free-flowing offensive system while holding up in different matchups on the defensive end of the floor.

Texas has found success with immediate impact transfers in the last few years. Many of the Longhorns' top players that led them to multiple NCAA Tournament wins in the last three years were portal additions that were brought in between 2021 and 2023.

Senior big man Dylan Disu and senior guard Max Abmas were both All-Big 12 performers and accounted for over 30 points per game combined for the Longhorns this past season. Disu was added from the portal during the 2021 offseason. And Abmas was Texas's marquee signing in last offseason's portal class.

Here's a look at where each player that has transferred from Texas is at now following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, including this offseason's portal departures.
