Texas can land these elite 2025 5-Star recruits in August
August will be a critical month on the recruiting trail for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian regarding decisions from top priority five-star prospects in the 2025 class. Texas's national standing for the 2025 recruiting class rankings could really take off next month.
Texas football could vault up the national class rankings for 2025 in August
Over a half dozen recruitments the Longhorns are involved in have decisions upcoming during the month of August. And many more targets for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class are expected to announce in August, even if they don't have a scheduled commitment date right now.
Texas already has 16 commitments in its 2025 class nearing the end of July on the recruiting trail. It is realistic to expect the Longhorns to reach 18 or 20 commitments for this cycle by the start of the 2024 season on Aug. 31 against Colorado State.
Here are all the elite recruits the Longhorns have a realistic shot at getting commitments from in the 2025 class in the next month.
Michael Fasusi, OT
Decision Date: Aug. 22
Texas's top offensive tackle priority in the 2025 class late this summer is the elite Lewisville (TX) five-star Michael Fasusi. Kyle Flood and the Longhorns are battling the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas A&M Aggies in the latter stages of the race to land Fasusi's commitment entering his Aug. 22 decision date.
But it looks like this recruitment is trending toward a battle between the Red River rivals on the trail entering the month of August.
Oklahoma exited official visit season as the trendy pick in this recruitment after a strong pitch from longtime OU offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh during Fasusi's late-June OV to Norman.
It would be a big mistake to count Texas out in the weeks leading up to Fasusi's decision, though. There is still plenty of time before Fasusi's decision in late August for Texas to swing momentum in its favor in this recruitment.
Fasusi is an extremely important priority recruit at a key position of need at offensive tackle for the Longhorns in the 2025 class. While Flood has four offensive linemen committed to the Longhorns 2025 class late this summer, all of them are likely going to be playing on the interior offensive line.
Texas has yet to get that premier offensive tackle commit in the 2025 class this offseason. Fasusi could be that guy that's next in line for the Longhorns at offensive tackle after other elite talents like Brandon Baker and Kelvin Banks Jr.
