This is a massive official visit weekend upcoming for Texas football in mid-June. Texas is slated to host a double-digit number of visiting recruits from the 2025 class for official visits from June 14-16.

Texas football continues to be in a great spot for elite 2025 LB Riley Pettijohn

Among the group of elite blue-chip visiting recruits for the Longhorns this weekend is high-four-star McKinney (TX) linebacker Riley Pettijohn. The No. 2 linebacker recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the On3 Industry Ranking is scheduled to officially visit Texas this weekend with his family.

Pettijohn is easily the top in-state linebacker priority for the Longhorns in the 2025 class early this summer. Texas and Pete Kwiatkowski have already got one of their top in-state linebacker targets for this cycle, Dallas (TX) Skyline four-star Elijah "Bo" Barnes, in the boat in the 2025 class.

Getting Pettijohn in this class could start putting the finishing touches on the in-state linebacker class for 2025 for the Longhorns. Texas has long been considered a major player in Pettijohn's recruitment. He's visited Texas more often than any other school this offseason.

This weekend will be Pettijohn's third time on campus since late January. He also visited Texas unofficially for the spring game at DKR on April 20.

Texas appears to continue to hold the edge over the USC Trojans, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Texas A&M Aggies in the race to land a commitment from Pettijohn this summer. Entering his Texas official visit this weekend, Pettijohn reportedly (per OTF's Gerry Hamilton) could be a battle on the recruiting trail between the Longhorns and Aggies.

The Longhorns are reportedly "considered the favorite" as Pettijohn and his family embark on Texas for his official visit starting June 14. Pettijohn has already taken official visits this summer to see Ohio State (May 31) and USC (June 7).

Ohio State and USC made big impressions on Pettijohn. But it doesn't sound like either school made up enough ground to really challenge Texas's spot as the leader in this recruitment.

After he visits Texas this weekend, Texas A&M is the final official trip Pettijohn has scheduled for this summer. It's worth watching that final Texas A&M official visit as the Aggies and new head coach Mike Elko have also made Pettijohn a major priority for in-state recruiting in 2025.
