Walton entered the transfer portal on April 15. He has four years of eligibility remaining. Walton preserved a year of eligibility due to the four-game NCAA redshirt rule.
During his true freshman campaign at Texas, Walton played 15 defensive snaps over two games. He saw three snaps in Texas's non-conference win at home in Week 3 over the Wyoming Cowboys. Walton took a season-high 12 defensive snaps in Texas's win in the Big 12 opener on the road in Week 4 over the Baylor Bears.
He registered one combined tackle over two games in 2023. Walton ranked as the No. 41 transfer edge rusher in the 247Sports Composite.
Walton was a three-star recruit from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, TX. The 6-foot-3 and 225-pound edge rusher from South Dallas ranked as the No. 506 prospect nationally in the 2023 class in the 247Sports Composite, No. 49 edge rusher, and No. 80 from Texas.
He signed with a 2023 Longhorns recruiting class that ranked third nationally in the 247Sports Composite.
Texas has lost 24 players to the transfer portal in this cycle. Ten of those two-dozen Longhorns players who transferred out of the program did so during the spring portal window.
Walton is the third Texas transfer to depart during the spring window and has found a new home with another FBS school. Fellow former Texas EDGE transfer J'Mond Tapp committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils last week.
The other of the three Longhorns transfer departures this spring to find another home in the portal with an FBS school is redshirt freshman offensive lineman Payton Kirkland, who committed to the Colorado Buffaloes on April 21.
