Southwest Airlines offering direct flights for Texas football fans from Austin to Michigan

There will reportedly be two flights direct from Austin-Bergstrom Airport to Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Detroit. The two flights will be on the two days before the Texas-Michigan game on Sep. 7. These two flights will be at 11:40 a.m. CT on Sep. 5 and Sep. 6.

Two return flights from Detroit back to Austin are also available on Sep. 8. The first flight departing Detroit for Austin on Sep. 8 is at 9 a.m. CT and the other at 4:55 p.m. CT.

The Texas-Michigan game on Sep. 7 will kickoff at 11 a.m. CT at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. This matchup pits the defending National Champion Michigan against the Longhorns in a game that could likely feature two top-five ranked teams in the major presesason polls this fall.

Another highly-anticipated matchup involving the Longhorns that Southwest Airlines is scheduled to have direct routes for is the contest in Austin against the Georgia Bulldogs in mid-October. Southwest Airlines is scheduled to fly multiple direct routes between Atlanta and Austin for the Texas-Georgia game at DKR in Austin on Oct. 19.

This upcoming season will be the first time that the Longhorns and Wolverines have faced each other at one of their home stadiums. The only time Texas and Michigan have met on the gridiron was the 2004-05 Rose Bowl Game where Vince Young led the Longhorns to a late fourth quarter win.

Texas and Michigan will play twice in the next four years, as part of a home-and-home series that was originally scheduled for 2024 and 2025. The Longhorns host the Wolverines at DKR in Austin in 2027 to conclude this home-and-home series.
