Texas Football: 10 key recruits impressed by UT's Junior Day
This weekend saw Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian host the first big Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 20. Texas hosted a few dozen blue-chip visiting recruits on campus this weekend from the 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes for the Junior Day festivities.
And there were many other rising prospects from multiple recruiting classes who made their way to the Forty Acres for Texas's Junior Day.
The first big Junior Day of the offseason saw Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff hand out multiple new offers to rising 2025 and 2026 targets on the recruiting trail, continue to build key relationships, and even land the first commitment in the 2026 class. That's not to mention the staff getting a big 2025 commitment on Jan. 21.
Texas football has a successful first big Junior Day of the 2024 offseason
Texas's first commitment in the 2026 class was from the explosive 2026 Aledo (TX) running back Raycine Guillory Jr. Guillory announced his pledge to UT on social media following his Junior Day visit on the night of Jan. 20.
The big 2025 commitment for the Longhorns this weekend was from the uber-athletic 6-foot-5 and 245-pound four-star Texarkana (TX) Pleasant Grove edge rusher Lance Jackson.
Many other key recruits for the Longhorns came away from Junior Day with very positive impressions of the staff and the program as a whole. While Texas might not see the fruits of their labor with all of these visiting recruits immediately, that's not how this staff does things on the recruiting trail.
Texas is more patient and diligent with their evaluations and relationship-building on the recruiting trail than to just take whatever prospects want in during the big visit weekend. Nonetheless, quite a few of the visitors for Junior Day this weekend are very likely to end up at Texas.
