Xavier Filsaime, S (Florida commit)

Texas's top priority remaining at defensive back in the 2024 class late in the cycle is the elite five-star McKinney (TX) safety and Florida Gators commit Xavier Filsaime. The No. 2 safety recruit in the nation in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking is the last major piece to the puzzle for the Longhorns' secondary after landing elite Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black on Dec. 13.

Filsaime showed up for his official visit to Texas on Dec. 15. He's since been active on social media, posting a few pictures in the Texas gear on Instagram.

Heading into the official visit this weekend, Texas seemingly had all the momentum as it looks to flip Filsaime's commitment from Florida. As questions have surfaced regarding the stability of the Florida staff under head coach Billy Napier and the direction of the program after the Gators failed to reach postseason eligibility this fall, Texas has taken full advantage while chipping away at Filsaime's pledge.

Texas was already trending to flip Filsaime's commitment from Florida before the official visit began on Dec. 15. Early returns from the first 24 hours of the visit appear to be positive. He is the top priority high school recruit on campus this weekend for the Longhorns in the 2024 class.

Texas appears to be in great shape to flip Filsaime's commitment from the Gators before signing day.
