Alex Foster, DL (Baylor commit)

A late-cycle defensive line flip target that the Longhorns hosted in Austin for an official visit last weekend is three-star Baylor Bears commit and Greenville (MS) St. Joseph's product Alex Foster. Defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns have targeted Foster among their top defensive line flip candidates in the 2024 class this fall.

Foster's official visit to Texas last weekend was his first trip to Austin since he made a multi-day unofficial visit for the regular season finale on Black Friday (Nov. 24) against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The reason why it would be considered a surprise for Foster to flip and sign with Texas on the first day of the Early Signing Period on Dec. 20 is that he is now expected to take his recruitment February. After Foster officially visited Texas last weekend, he reportedly was planning on moving his signing back to the late signing period in February.

Texas will reportedly remain in pursuit of Foster on the recruiting trail through the late signing period in a couple of months if he does decide to back off his commitment to Baylor before February. It sounds like Texas would be a top option for Foster if he did flip his commitment heading into the late signing period.

But there is still time for Foster to reverse course and sign on the dotted line during the Early Signing Period this week.
