Dominick McKinley, DL (Texas A&M commit)

The potential "surprise flip" we're watching the closest on signing day among the three recruits mentioned on this list for the Longhorns is the elite five-star Lafayette (LA) Acadiana defensive lineman and Texas A&M commit Dominick McKinley. The No. 1 rated defensive lineman from Louisiana in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite had communication with a few other schools in the last couple of days, including Texas.

If McKinley doesn't sign with Texas A&M, the top school expected to get his commitment would reportedly be the LSU Tigers. But a report from 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong also notes Texas and Oklahoma among the two schools to watch if McKinley does back off his commitment from Texas A&M during the Early Signing Period this week.

Wiltfong that he's "keeping an eye on Texas" in this report regarding the status of McKinley's commitment to Texas A&M heading into signing day this week. He also mentioned LSU, given the official visit the Tigers have scheduled with McKinley for next month.

Another option in this recruitment is for McKinley to wait to sign on the dotted line until the late signing period in February. If McKinley waits to sign until February, that would give Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian more time to make a late run to flip his commitment from Texas A&M.

We'll continue to watch McKinley's recruitment closely for updates during the Early Signing Period.
