Purely from the perspective of looking at the players on Washington's roster, you could really pick from half of the upperclassmen on the defense, as many of them were recruited by current Texas co-DC and defensive play caller Pete Kwiatkowski. Kwiatkowski was Washington's co-defensive coordinator for upward of a half-decade.

And one of the most productive players on Washington's defense, who was originally recruited by PK, along with some other coaches on Texas's current staff, is redshirt junior edge rusher Bralen Trice. The 6-foot-4 and 260-pound EDGE players/outside linebacker leads Washington in sacks this season with five.

The other Texas coach who also recruited Trice out of high school was special teams coordinator Banks. Banks was one of the leading recruiters for Trice with the Crimson Tide a few years ago.

Despite only being a three-star recruit from Glendale (AZ) Sandra Day O'Connor High School in the 2019 class, Trice was clearly valued as a prospect much higher than his recruiting ranking would otherwise indicate.

Trice considered Alabama among his top group of schools before committing to Washington in the 2019 recruiting class. He was a priority in the 2019 class for top college football programs such as the Oregon Ducks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Alabama.

But PK and the Huskies eventually landed his commitment in the fall of 2018 after a successful official visit to Seattle in September of that same year.

Trice has emerged as a multi-year impact starter and an ultra-productive pass rusher for the Huskies. He's led the team in sacks in each of the last two seasons. And he's ranked among the top five highest-graded pass rushers at the EDGE position in the PAC-12 in the last two seasons.

It's safe to say that PK and the Huskies made the right decision with their evaluation and prioritization of Trice as a recruit coming out of high school in the 2019 class.
