The conclusion of the 2023 season has shifted the focus for head coach Steve Sarkisian and Texas football back to the recruiting trail and roster management. Texas has many key players, with NFL Draft decisions looming.

Multiple upperclassmen starters and stars for the Longhorns have already announced their intentions to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

Here’s a running list of the key Longhorns players who were expected to enter the draft and have already announced their intentions this week.

  • Junior DL Byron Murphy II
  • Senior DL T’Vondre Sweat
  • Sophomore RB Jonathon Brooks
  • Junior WR Xavier Worthy
  • Senior WR Jordan Whittington

More upper and underclassmen are expected to announce their intentions for the upcoming draft, with the decision deadline looming on Jan. 15.

Texas is working on retention efforts with a handful of other key players who have eligibility remaining to return to school for another year.

On the other hand, multiple seniors for the Longhorns who do have eligibility remaining to return to Texas in 2024 are expected to either enter the NFL Draft or enter the transfer portal this offseason. Texas has already lost a handful of upperclassmen to the portal during the December window. And more departures could happen soon among Longhorns players who want to enter the portal.

Here are four Longhorns seniors who have likely played their last game at Texas after the season concluded earlier this week.
