Texas Football: 5 elite recruits visiting for UT Junior Day
Jordon Davison, RB
Texas's top priority at the running back position in the 2025 class, Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei high-four-star Jordon Davison, will make his first return visit to Austin since last fall for Junior Day on Jan. 20.
Davison is the running back recruit that Texas RB coach Tashard Choice identified early as his top target at the position in the 2025 class. Choice has built a strong relationship with Davison and has the Longhorns in a great spot in this recruitment early in the 2024 offseason.
The biggest competition for the Longhorns in this recruitment comes from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Oregon Ducks. But the fact that Davison is visiting Texas for Junior Day this weekend is a good sign of where the Longhorns sit in the pecking order among his top group schools.
Kevin Ford Jr., EDGE
The No. 1 rated recruit in Texas in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, the elite Duncanville five-star edge rusher Kevin Ford Jr., is among the top prospects from that cycle visiting for Junior Day. The elite edge rusher from the DFW Metroplex is making his first visit to Texas since the Longhorns offered him last fall.
This is obviously a critical visit for the Longhorns to make a good first impression on Ford. He is highly regarded as the "must-get" edge rusher/defensive line recruit in-state in the 2026 class.
Ford had good communication with the Longhorns staff, which goes back to before when he was offered in mid-October. He's also close with two 2024 Texas signees who he played with along Duncanville's defensive line, five-star edge rusher Colin Simmons and four-star defensive lineman Alex January.
