Jonah Williams, LB/S

The elite five-star Galveston (TX) Ball athlete Jonah Williams is classified by most of the major recruiting services as a linebacker in the 2025 class. But Texas is recruiting him at safety.

Williams should be considered one of Texas's top defensive back priorities in the 2025 class. The 6-foot-3 and 205-pound stud from Galveston, TX, is scheduled to visit Texas this weekend among his many Junior Day trips over the next month or so.

He's also scheduled to visit the Oklahoma Sooners (Jan. 27), and likely Ohio State (Feb. 3). A visit to College Station to see the Texas A&M Aggies is also a possibility for the weekend of Feb. 3 if he decides to cancel the Ohio State trip.

Texas has remained among the top group of schools in the race to land a commitment from Williams since last offseason. The Longhorns are in the top four or five schools for Williams early this offseason, heading into a critical stretch of visits for the No. 14 ranked prospect in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite.

Riley Pettijohn, LB

The top-ranked linebacker recruit for the Longhorns in the 2025 class who is scheduled to visit Austin for Junior Day this weekend is the elite McKinney (TX) five-star Riley Pettijohn. The elite 6-foot-2 and 205-pound linebacker recruit from the DFW Metroplex is considered by many to be the Longhorns' top priority at the position in the 2025 class.

Linebacker recruiting is critical for the Longhorns in the 2025 class since the staff only took one commitment at the position for the 2024 cycle.

Texas has made a strong impression on Pettijohn and his camp so far during his recruitment. He had multiple successful visits to Texas in 2023.

Some of the other schools involved in this recruitment are the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, USC Trojans, and Auburn Tigers.
