KJ Lacey, QB (UT commit)

Expected visit dates: April 6 and 20

The competition for the Longhorns to keep a firm commitment from the highly touted four-star Saraland (AL) quarterback KJ Lacey heated up early this offseason. The Auburn Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels, among a couple of other schools, started to put pressure on Lacey to chip away at his commitment to Texas in the last few months.

But Lacey reaffirmed his commitment to Texas a few weeks ago after cancelling an early-February visit to Ole Miss and Auburn and head coach Hugh Freeze making a big push in this recruitment.

Texas will continue to have to fight to keep Lacey's commitment firm in the 2025 class during the spring. It's big that the Longhorns are set to get Lacey to campus multiple times in April, including for the spring football game on April 20.

The first visit for Lacey to get to Texas on April 6 is one of particular importance. That's because Lacey will join former Alabama five-star wide receiver commit and Jacksonville, FL, native Jamie Ffrench for his first unofficial visit to Texas since he re-opened his recruitment earlier this offseason.

Rickey Stewart, RB

Expected visit date: April 6 or 20

Texas and running backs coach Tashard Choice are looking to take two rushers in the 2025 class. The top running back priority that Choice and the Longhorns have their eyes on in the 2025 class is Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei high-four-star Jordon Davison.

A likely candidate to be the other running back that the Longhorns take in the 2025 class, assuming they can seal the deal with Davison this summer, is recent SMU decommit and four-star Rickey Stewart.

Texas made a big impression on Stewart during his recent trip to Austin for the first big Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 20. Within a couple of weeks after the Junior Day trip to Texas wrapped up, Stewart backed off his commitment to SMU.

Inside Texas reported last weekend (paid content) that Stewart will visit Austin at some point in April. There isn't an exact visit date locked in yet, but he'll likely make the trip to Austin on April 6 or 20.

Stewart is also scheduled to officially visit Texas in mid-June.
