A top-priority recruit for Texas football in the 2024 class who officially visited Austin over the weekend was the elite five-star McKinney (TX) safety and Florida Gators commit Xavier Filsaime. Texas's top remaining flip target at defensive back in the 2024 class heading into signing day on Dec. 20 started his multi-day official visit to Austin on Dec. 15.

Texas already generated a ton of buzz in this recruitment heading into Filsaime's official visit last weekend. And it sounds like Texas only confirmed the reasons why it had so much momentum with Filsaime in the last few weeks from the positive experience he had during the official visit.

Texas football looking to get a massive flip in 5-Star UF commit Xavier Filsaime heading into signing day

Mike Roach of 247Sports reported over the weekend (paid content) that Filsaime's official visit to Texas "went incredibly well". Texas reportedly did a nice job of laying out the development plan for Filsaime, and "answered many of the questions" he had entering the official visit.

To sum it up, Texas checked many of the boxes for Filsaime and his camp that would be required to get him in this class entering signing day later this week.

Coming out of the official visit, all signs point to Texas being in a great position to flip Filsaime's commitment from Florida this week. Texas has the relationships, proximity to home, the momentum on the field this season, and a path to immediate playing time for Filsaime.

Since Filsaime is expected to sign and enroll early during the Early Signing Period this week, it is expected that something will happen for Texas in this recruitment by Wednesday (Dec. 20) morning.

Filsaime among multiple flip targets Texas hosted for official visits last weekend

Filsaime and the four-star Texas A&M Aggies linebacker commit/Jasper (TX) product Tyanthony Smith were the top-priority flip targets Texas hosted for official visits in Austin last weekend. Smith's official visit was quieter than Filsaime's over the weekend.

But it sounds like Texas is in a great position to flip both Smith and Filsaime in the 2024 class heading into signing day in roughly 48 hours. The other flip target in the 2024 class that Texas hosted for an official visit last weekend was the three-star Baylor Bears defensive line commit/Greenville (MS) St. Joseph's product Alex Foster.

Texas has targeted Foster among its top out-of-state defensive line flip candidates in the 2024 class this fall. Foster announced late last weekend that he will wait to sign until February. He, along with blue-chip A&M commits (five-star) Dominick McKinley and (four-star) Dealyn Evans, are Texas's top flip targets along the defensive line heading into the late signing period in February.
