Texas football and running backs coach Tashard Choice got to work early on to land their first commitment of the 2026 recruiting class this weekend. Texas added its first 2026 commitment on Jan. 20 from Aledo (TX) running back Raycine Guillory Jr.

Guillory committed to Choice and the Longhorns via a post on his Twitter/X account on the night of Jan. 20. His commitment to Texas comes just after he visited Austin for the first big Junior Day of the offseason for the Longhorns. Guillory's trip to Texas for Junior Day was his second visit to the Forty Acres. The first was on Sep. 16 for the Wyoming game at DKR.

He committed to Texas over offers from the Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners, USC Trojans, and Auburn Tigers, among many other schools.

The biggest reason why the Longhorns were able to get this commitment from one of the top in-state running backs early on in the 2026 class is the efforts on the recruiting trail by Choice. Texas's RB coach has done fantastic work on the recruiting trail at the running back position in the last few cycles.

And he's continued to find success in the next couple of cycles for the Longhorns, especially by getting Guillory to shut things down this early in his recruitment.

Guillory told Horns247 that he is tight with Choice and feels at home at the University of Texas.

"Coach Choice he coached all my favorite backs also a real person great energy, real love, and that's just something that Iā€™m big on and our relationship is strong so that made me shut it down Texas is HOME fam love him as well and just wanted to be a part of what Coach Sark is building."

Texas adds a top 2026 RB talent to kick off that cycle

Guillory is one of the rising stars at running back in Texas in the 2026 class. He is an incredibly speedy and agile back who is a home run threat on the ground and has good hands to threaten opposing defenses as a receiver out of the backfield.

The 5-foot-10 and 180-pound sophomore running back had a fantastic 2023 campaign for the 5A-1 state champion Aledo. He rushed for over 1,200 yards, 8.5 yards per carry, 17 rushing touchdowns, 175 receiving yards, and four touchdown catches in 2023 (per MaxPreps).
