Texas football game-by-game predictions for the 2024 season
Game 7: vs. Georgia (Oct. 19)
Location: DKR (Austin, TX)
The Oct. 19 matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs is arguably the most highly-anticipated game on the Longhorns' regular season schedule in the SEC. Georgia, the No. 1 ranked team in the preseason Coaches Poll, will give the Longhorns one of the biggest tests they face this season, regardless of date or location of venue.
Assuming that Georgia and Texas both get off to expected solid starts this upcoming regular season, this game is all but guaranteed to have major SEC Championship and College Football Playoff implications involved. Last year, Georgia was one drive away from tying Alabama, winning its third straight SEC Championship, and getting a chance to win its third straight national title.
Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart are hungry to prove their reign once again over the college football landscape. The Dawgs return a Heisman contender at quarterback, junior Carson Beck, a dynamic group of supporting skill talent, and a fantastic offensive line chocked full of future NFL Draft picks.
On the defensive side of the ball, Georgia looks as deep and as skilled as ever where they return seven starters and have recruited extremely well at almost all position groups in the last few years.
The quarterback dual between Beck and Ewers should be must-see television. We also have a good running back battle on tap with the dynamic duo of Jaydon Blue and CJ Baxter for Texas going against grad transfer from the rival Gators, Trevor Etienne, for Georgia.
