After Texas football added its fourth portal commitment on Jan. 14 in former Alabama Crimson Tide sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Bond, it doesn't look like head coach Steve Sarkisian is letting up in this transfer cycle. Texas is still looking to add impact players at a few key positions of need on both sides of the ball early this offseason.

With Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff getting Bond committed late this weekend, they're focusing on the next top-priority transfer target. The next transfer target that has the attention of Texas's staff is the former Washington Huskies and Oklahoma State Cowboys senior cornerback Jabbar Muhammad.

Muhammad and Texas have shown mutual interest since he entered the transfer portal on Jan. 12. He entered the portal following the news that second-year Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer was hired as the next Alabama head coach. DeBoer replaces longtime legendary head coach Nick Saban, who announced his retirement a few days ago at Alabama.

The mutual interest makes sense on multiple levels between Muhammad and the Longhorns. Not only is Texas close to home for the Dallas, TX, native, but Jabbar's cousin also plays for the Longhorns. Jabbar's cousin at Texas is freshman cornerback Malik Muhammad.

Texas among the schools that went in-home with Muhammad this week

Texas and the Oregon Ducks went in-home with Muhammad at his home in Dallas, TX, this weekend (specifically Jan. 13). Oregon made the first in-home visit with Muhammad on Jan. 13. Texas went on their in-home visit with Muhammad later in the day on Jan. 13.

On3's Gerry Hamilton reported on Jan. 14 that Oregon is currently considered the leader in this portal recruitment coming out of the weekend. Oregon and head coach Dan Lanning have been ultra-aggressive in the transfer portal early this offseason. That continues to be the case with this portal recruitment for the former rival-team cornerback Muhammad.

Texas will get its shot to counter Oregon's push for Muhammad this week. Muhammad is reportedly scheduled to visit Texas later this week if Oregon doesn't shut down this portal recruitment first.
