Linebacker
Tyanthony Smith (4-Star, Jasper (TX)
The only linebacker the Longhorns signed in the 2024 class was a signing day flip from the Texas A&M Aggies, Jasper (TX) four-star Tyanthony Smith.
Smith was among Texas's top in-state priorities at linebacker in the 2024 class since the summer. He and the No. 1 linebacker recruit in the nation in the 2024 class, Georgia Bulldogs five-star commit Justin Williams, were the two in-state linebackers the Longhorns had spots for this cycle.
Texas's relentless efforts fighting through the finish line on signing day to get Smith to flip his commitment from Texas A&M and sign on the dotten line paid dividends when it was all said and done.
Smith is a productive and rangy off-ball linebacker with decent length (6-foot-2 with a pretty solid wingspan). He needs to add more weight in the next couple of years at Texas, but he's got many of the tools required to succeed as an off-ball linebacker in the modern game. Smith is quick, instinctual, and versatile.
