Texas Football: Predicting Longhorns next commit after Kobe Black
Terrance Hibbler, DL (Mississippi State commit)
Defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns have a few flip candidates they're still targeting in the 2024 class before signing day next week.
Two of the top flip targets for Davis and the Longhorns along the defensive line in the 2024 class this fall are Lexington (MX) Holmes County Central four-star/Mississippi State Bulldogs commit Terrance Hibbler and Greenville (MS) St. Joseph's three-star/Baylor Bears commit Alex Foster.
HIbbler is the higher priority it seems for the Longhorns among the two aforementioned flip targets along the defensive line in the 2024 class late in the cycle.
Texas was among the top schools in consideration for Hibbler when he announced his commitment to Mississippi State in early June. Despite committing to Mississippi State on June 1, Hibbler still took an official visit to Texas a few weeks later.
Hibbler also made an unofficial visit to Texas during the spring last offseason.
Davis has remained in communication with Hibbler late in the cycle. Texas still has a shot to flip Hibbler before signing day next week. But the clock is ticking on Texas's chances to flip Hibbler as he plans on signing early and likely enrolling early for the spring semester.
Mississippi State did counter the recent push from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, and Texas in their pursuit to chip away at Hibbler's commitment to the Bulldogs during a recent official visit to Starkville. Hibbler had a successful official trip to Starkville last weekend, which has helped to ease the concerns on the Mississippi State side regarding the pursuit from Alabama, Auburn, and Texas for the blue-chip DL on the trail late this fall.
Were something to happen between the Longhorns and Hibbler, there will be some news coming from this recruitment in the next few days.
The other top defensive line target for Davis and the Longhorns to fill the last scholarship spot at the position in the 2024 class are five-star Texas A&M commit Dominick McKinley. Texas went in-home with McKinley late this week as he considers his options while pushing back his signing to February.
